Vatsalya Awards Program for Children's Literature in India
The Padma Binani Foundation has instituted an award of Rs. one lakh and a citation to promote and recognize those illustrious Indian authors who have made notable contributions to children's literature in any one of our twenty- two recognized Indian languages. The Vatsalya Award is based on the insightful recommendations of a panel of experts featuring the literary glitterati of India's literary horizon. Members are nominated and invited to make the selection based on the following criteria:
The Foundation endeavors to foster an awareness about the need for quality children's literature in the regional languages of India. Our efforts are not limited to ceremonious recognition alone. The Foundation actively promotes the publication and distribution of children's books through author subsidies, publisher subsidies, resource networking and short-term projects in which activity in a particular regional language is actively supported.
The Foundation welcomes project proposals and award nominations from educators, parents, NGOs and advocacy groups involved in the field of children and child literacy. Please feel free to get in touch with our office and share your recommendation and project ideas.
