Welcome to the Vatsalya Home Page and many thanks for visiting us. 'Vatsalya' is derived from a Sanskrit word which means "affection" specially for children. Many of the projects from Vatsalya are child-centric and are envisioned as conduits to knowledge for young and impressionable minds.
On these web pages, you will find information about Vatsalya, its mission, and its current programs. Learn about Vatsalya's Annual Awards Program for writers of children and young adult literature. We have also provided a link to our short bibliography which lists the various full-length works for children published by our sister body, Akshar. We have also provided comprehensive information on how you can order these treasure troves of knowledge and fun for children of all ages through our exclusive online book offers.

Today's younger generation is confronted with a new reality which was non-existent as recently as a couple of decades ago. Economic liberalization has brought with it unheard levels of affluence and prosperity but only to a few in a country of more than a billion people. An unanticipated outcome of this unprecedented economic upturn is that it has opened a floodgate of concepts, ideologies and traditions not necessarily beneficial to our younger generation and perhaps not in their overall interest. Without being judgmental, Vatsalya, under the able and dynamic leadership of its founder Smt. Padma Binani, attempts to present a balancing perspective to the global citizens of tomorrow. We hope to accomplish this mission through a unified and integrated approach which encompasses all aspects of child development such as education, literacy programs and value-based learning.
